The Village of Herkimer is the county seat of Herkimer County. All the county offices, courts, DMV, clerks, etc., are located in the Village of Herkimer. Herkimer also has its own village police department and fire department, located by the Municipal Hall housing the Village Offices. The U.S. Post Office and UPS & FedEx drop-off locations are also in the village. A NYS Police Trooper barrack is located in East Herkimer, just outside the village. Because of Herkimer's relative small size one seldom has to wait in lines or wait for response more than a few minutes. |
