Herkimer is lucky enough to have its own elementary school, middle school and high school. Herkimer Elementary School consists of grades Pre-K to 5. Herkimer Middle School & High School houses grades 6-12. Of course, the higher grades in each school building are separated from the lower grades. The high school has had its share of Section III championship teams, and many of Herkimer's graduates have gone on to achieve great things. Other educational institutions include St. Francis de Sales Regional which specializes in private pre-K and Kindergarten programs, Herkimer BOCES, and Herkimer College which is ranked one of the top 100 community colleges in the nation by CNNMoney. Other colleges, such as SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Utica University, Mohawk Valley Community College, and Pratt Institute are only a stone's throw away in nearby Utica and Marcy. The Herkimer public library is part of the Mid-York Library System. |
